# Standout

> Standout (standoutmcp.io) is the final design polish and proof layer for AI-built client websites. Its primary MCP workflow inspects the rendered page, gives the coding agent an exact implementation contract, verifies the rebuilt phone and desktop experience, and returns client-ready before-and-after proof. The specialist direction, component, reference, and critique tools remain available behind that one outcome. Works with Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, claude.ai, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT connectors, Windsurf, Cline, PayMeGPT, and any MCP client.

## Primary workflow

- polish_and_prove: the default entry point. First call with a URL, source, or business brief. The agent applies the returned fixes in the repository. Call it again with the improved URL or source to receive the final publish gate, screenshots, score change, and shareable client proof.

## Specialist tools

Direction and build:
- get_design_direction: matches the business to one of 14 art-directed directions (palette with exact hex roles, type pairing, layout DNA, motion), seeded per business. Pass current_site_url for a full redesign protocol that keeps every real fact.
- get_section_code: finished, art-directed HTML/CSS sections (nav, hero, offer, gallery, story, footer). The agent swaps content, never composition.
- get_hero_concept, get_asset_pack, get_motion_recipes, get_premium_components, assemble_premium_page, get_showpiece: hero specs, CSS assets, production motion, and premium primitives (shader cards, magnetic CTAs, scroll portals), all reduced-motion safe.
- build_from_reference_v2 + critique_similarity: "I like this site, do not clone it" workflows with an originality guardrail.
- get_app_theme, get_component_code, critique_ui: locked design-token systems and finished React components for application UI (dashboards, admin panels), plus an app-UI critic.

Audit and proof:
- critique_design: deterministic critique of any page or URL. Renders the real page headless: computed WCAG contrast ratios, mobile layout measured at 360/390/768px, readability floors, generic-hero detection, and the AI-slop rulebook (gradient text, glow-blob voids, raw shadcn default skin, traffic-light mockups, em-dash tells). Returns live phone + desktop screenshots, a prioritized fix list with exact values, and a 0-100 Standout Score (client-ready starts at 85). Every URL critique also mints a shareable public score report.
- make_it_standout: the detailed transformation-plan tool for power users. Most users should start with polish_and_prove.
- client_report: a client-safe design audit report for agencies and freelancers, with before/after when re-run.
- get_free_trial_key: self-provision a free 25-call trial mid-conversation (also reachable keyless).
- unlock_bonus_calls: one time per trial key, adds 10 bonus calls when the user shares their email (a reward, never a gate; the same key keeps working instantly).

## Why it exists

Coding agents regress to the statistical average of the web: purple gradients, centered heroes, three equal cards, Inter, glow blobs on dark voids, raw shadcn defaults. Standout replaces the average with finished art direction and then verifies the rendered result, so vibe-coded sites ship looking like a $10k agency build. The scoring is deterministic (never LLM-judged): the same page always scores the same. We hold our own homepage to the same critic; it blocked us at 83/100 until we fixed everything it found, and the public report of it at 99/100 is linked from the site.
